Now that we have covered some of the basics, forged tools, and made some more advanced stuff with tutors from England, it is time to take a closer look at the lathe itself. And what better way to do that than to just build one. Or better yet, build two different ones. So that is exactly what we have been doing these days. After doing some prep sawing, we built two benches in two days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By building the lathe yourself you will get a better feel for what a lathe entails and you can adjust it more easily if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And of course we tested the lathes afterwards by turning a bowl on them. Mission accomplished!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
