Today’s assignment for Pieterjan was to make a drinking cup based on an image from the book “Vackert svarvat – Sk\u00f6nt M\u00e5lat” by Svenning Svenningson. This book is unfortunately no longer available new, but if you’re interested in the work we create, it’s highly recommended if you happen to come across it secondhand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This cup has a few difficulties. It has two rather thin handles, and it’s also convex, with the top diameter being quite a bit smaller than the cup’s widest point, where the handles are located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To shorten the turning process, we first axed out a shape that the cup would fit into nicely. After that, it was just a matter of turning everything into shape \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To turn the convex shape, you’ll need different turning hooks than the standard, straight hooks we usually use. To get under the edge easily, you could use a hook like the one pictured above and\/or the one Martijn is holding in the photo below. Today also served as a test for the hook tools we had available. To what extent did they perform as we intended, and if so, how might they need to be adjusted?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
